Im taping off some parts to dye them and my first attempt using blue tape failed. I was told to use that but feel there must be a better option. Electric tape? Any ideas?

Electrical tape works.
Duct Tape also works.
When using electrical tape, be sure you aren't stretching the tape when applying it, as it'll contract back when you place it in the dye.
