Tried to search, but have not found anything.

What is the best product to use on magazines?  I have a few aluminum 30rd mags that I want to refinish.  Right now they have a greyish finish on them that is wearin pretty thin.

Ha ha. Just when you think you're in the right place asking the right question....

Thanks!

That shit is pretty expensive per can...can you not paint a mag?

Permasilk gives a great factory type finish.
On the cheap, you can:

Strip the magazine to the empty body, degrease and lightly scuff the surface.
Warm the body with a heat gun and apply thin coat of Alumahyde (from Brownells).
Hit it with a another thin coat for complete coverage.
Allow the body to cure for a week.

BBQ paint or Krylon can work too. If the coats get too thick, then you may have magazines that are hard to drop free.

I'v found Permaslik to be too "soft". I would use GunKote, Ceracoat, etc for a similar price and trice the performance.
