My dad gave this to me the other day. Its a Armi Tanfoglio Giuseppe
Model 27 in 25acp that my grandpa carried in his pocket for quite a long
time.

My plan is to refinish it, but the serial number is really faint and
will likely not make it through the refinish. It is ok to have the same serial # engraved back onto the frame correct?

Looks like 75309 to me. Whatcha think?

Don't know the legality of it but common sense would say that is feasible.  Think you have the numbers right.... I say go for it...

I would agree.  You are not changing the serial number or scratching it out.  I would think making it deeper would not be a problem.
but that is my .02

 Nice.

I don't see a legal issue.  I'd pay a pro engraver to do it, to make it match as perfectly as possible.

find someone with a laser engraver and see if they can match it up with their machine.....just need to deepen it

Technically that would be illegal as you can not modify an existing serial number. You can add any other marking you'd like to the gun including another copy of the number. Personally, I wouldn't screw with the number that's on it. If it gets obliterated due to normal wear and or legitimate refinish then oh well.
