I'm wondering if there are any good water based paints that would be heat-resistant enough to be able to use on a firearm. I know I would have to coat it with a clear coat after...I'm only wondering because I have a paint sprayer that calls for water based chemicals only

Water based paints? No, not really. Now water reduced paints are a different matter all together.
