To prep for GunKote, what is the best way to clean & degrease aluminum?

I looked around and searched but didn't find a definitive answer.  Some people said brake or carb cleaner, but others seem to suggest specific degreasers - and I cannot remember where I saw it, but I think someone also suggested denatured alcohol as a cleaner.

I DON'T have a bead blaster or any fancy equipment, so I am looking for advice on something that I can buy at Home Depot or AutoZone or paint store.

Thanks!

Simple Green for aluminum.  The bottle says something like  "for planes and boats" or something like that and the bottle is blue (I think).
It'll make the metal squeaky clean and remove ALL oily/greasy residue on the part. Best method is to let it soak for about 5 minutes then dry it off with an air compressor, blow dryer or some people heat their parts in the oven (I have not tried that method).

If you plan on going the route of Brakleen (brake cleaner), take a look at Gun Scrubber instead.   I find that the GS evaporates faster, albeit it costs more.
