Does anyone know what i can use to fix burned spot on gun stock.  I dont want to buy another stock because I bought this gun for my little sister who is no longer with us.  It was her first rifle and I bought it for her when she was 10yrs old for christmas.  How it got burned ( not all of the stock is burned there is one area  on the forearm of the stock that must have gotten really hot and turned black ) well my mother and sister were murdered on 6/12/09 and the piece of shit tryed to burn the house to cover up the crime.  any help to getting this fixed would be greatly appreciated.

Without seeing the exact damage, its hard to say what would work.  It could be as simple as sanding down & refinishing or as wild as doing a cut out & inlay.

There are lots of options for hiding damage and flaws.  Checkering is high on the list.
