Hey guys, I have a quick question about nickel finishes.
I recently came across a Browning Hi Power that has a nickel finish, and I was wondering if Nickel could be polished to a mirror like sheen. I've seen this done with stainless steel guns, and I was wondering if it was possible with my Hi Power. I think brightly polished slide flats on a matte nickel gun would look pretty cool! School me

Sure, it can be polished. Just be careful how much you remove - never know how thin that nickel plating might be.
Also, it depends which type of nickel it is. If it is electroless nickel it might be fairly hard and thus will take a bit more effort. If it is electro-deposited (either Woods or Sulfamate process) then it will be much softer. Polish ONLY the flat areas. Polsihing on corners or trying to get into recessed areas is a good way to break through to bare steel. |
