I have Norrelled and Duracoated before, but never blasted prior to the refinish. I think I've been lucky so far, but don't want to push it. I now want to pick up a small blast cabinet for small projects. From my limited understanding, I need the cabinet, compressor, and media. That's it, right? So I get the cabinet, hook it up to the compressor and go to it? I hope I'm not overly simplifying it, but this is all I've come up with. Am I leaving anything out? Thanks! |

www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=45411 The unit above has a minimum of 5cfm at 100psi. You'll be there all day if it's more than just a small spot and you have one lower. I've had it with mine and I'm picking up a bigger compressor this fall after the move.
The breaks were to much of an interruption. This one below requires 12CFM at 40-80 psi. www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=93608

I have the little grey one as well, the reason they say to use AO is that the beads tend to polish the surface rather than to ruff it up. Sure it does a great job at knocking off paint, rust and what not, but to prep a surface for duracoat you need to have some teeth for the paint to stick to. It takes me all day with my medium compressor. Thus buy the right one for the job the first time. |
