I have Norrelled and Duracoated before, but never blasted prior to the refinish.  I think I've been lucky so far, but don't want to push it.
I now want to pick up a small blast cabinet for small projects.  From my limited understanding, I need the cabinet, compressor, and media.  That's it, right?
So I get the cabinet, hook it up to the compressor and go to it?
I hope I'm not overly simplifying it, but this is all I've come up with.  Am I leaving anything out?
Thanks!

Get a compressor that will move at least 12cfm at 90 PSI or your wasting your time.

i sandblast with my 30gal sears compressor that can do much less then that. just take breaks and let it cool. works fine for light work once in a while.

12cfm at 90 PSI?  Seems high for light work...is it?
Is there a minimum I'll need for small around the house/work room projects?

The unit above has a minimum of 5cfm at 100psi.   You'll be there all day if it's more than just a small spot and you have one lower.  I've had it with mine and I'm picking up a bigger compressor this fall after the move.

The breaks were to much of an interruption.

This one below requires 12CFM at 40-80 psi.

I have the small gray one in that link, works OK, leaks a little, it does say right on it to use only glass beads, I dont see why. Most here will tell you to use aluminum oxide. I used glass on my HK and it turned out great. Good little unit for small stuff.

I have the little grey one as well, the reason they say to use AO is that the beads tend to polish the surface rather than to ruff it up.  Sure it does a great job at knocking off paint, rust and what not, but to prep a surface for duracoat you need to have some teeth for the paint to stick to.

It takes me all day with my medium compressor.  Thus buy the right one for the job the first time.

You really can't buy too big of a compressor.  Trying to use a blast cabinet with a small compressor is an experience in patience.
