The grip feels better than the handguards at this point. probably because the of different composite materials. I will update in a few days. The best cure time is 7 days. Hope this helps. Drew |
Thats what I was wondering I used some paint once and it almost seemed slick compared to what I started with |
It has been 4 days since the final coat was applied. The handguards are statring to feel more like a "factory" finish. Best cure time is 7 days. Will be taking it to the range in a couple of weeks. Will update after - I will also learn what happens after thorough cleaning. Drew |
| I have used the fusion on my synthetic 10/22 stock with great sucess. It holds up great after it is cured. It wont handle any solvents though so be careful while cleaning. other than that durability has been great for walking threw the woods squirrel hunting and a couple of range days. Your rifle looks great by the way, Nice job. |

Caught this late, but if I'm not mistaken carb cleaner is a no-no, for it leaves some type of petroleum based residue. Try using brake parts cleaner, no residue, then wipe down with a lint free cloth with reducer prior to spraying. Carb cleaner is designed to help remove the deposits/gunk without drying out rubber o-rings & gaskets..... Brake cleaner is the only product on this earth that I have found to kill a cockroach/black widow/frog/lizard in one fine application, oh and it works well on guns & brakes plus smells cool too |
What kind of solvents harm Krylon Fusion? My most common cleaners are Hoppes #9 and Breakfree CLP. Should I worry? |
I will be going to the range in a few weeks and will update on whats happens after cleaning. By-the-way, it has been 10 days since I completed the application. The finish feels as hard as the original finish. I purposely rubbed the sides of the handguards to see if the finish would "wear" do to the friction - No difference, no wear, no rubs, no pealing... |
