| How do you prep plastic, say an AR pistol grip, for Duracoating? |
| The easy way is just to use the DuraCoat brand TruStrip. It's made for prep. You'll be assured that you won't have any residue left behind. Its good on plastics or metal. If you have a sand blaster to ruff it up it will be even better. I do know that some of the cheaper plastics will melt in it. I had some clear Simunitions brand FX AR mags that came out pretty ugly and a tooth brush that I was using to scrub grease off with kind of melted. Your average gun grip will be fine. I'll take some pics of the AR's and the mags this week to post them. |

Non-Clorinated Brake Cleaner will not harm the plastic furniture off an AR. I wouldn't Soak the parts in it, but spraying them off will not hurt them at all. I use brake cleaner exclusively as a solvent for all my guns and haven't had anything fail do to the brake cleaner. be sure to post pics of the finished product. |
