I painted my ar od green with krylon and just out of curiosity how would I remove it if I ever wanted to? Thanks austin |
Hoppes #9 does a good job also. Actually I just removed some OD from some mags. I started by blasting it with carb cleaner. This got most of it off. I then soaked a cotton balls with Hoppes #9 and it got what was left. I used some forceps to hold the cotton balls to keep from getting all the mess on my hands. |
The carb cleaner did cause some discoloration on my mags but a little wiping with Remoil got everything looking normal again. I did not have to do any scrubbing but mine had only been painted less than 6 months. |

The orange goo stuff you apply and scrape off right? If so I used it on a table once and it worked well just dont know how it would work on a ar compared to a flat table. MEK? Where do you get it at? My big thing is I dont want to ruin the original rifle finish. Thanks Austin |
| I just did exactly what you are wanting to do. have fun. I got the stuff you put on it like a jell, and scrape off only I used a black nylon bristle brush and brushed it off. re-applied and then used acetone to clean off the jell. the part that sucked was the 12 inch rail that I had to do. now I am waiting on some OD Norrells so I can do it permanant. only I am thinking about getting some flat black to re-do some mags and the lever, trigger ect.it was just time consuming because I want it to come out right so I am being very meticulous about all the parts since I am waiting for the last week on the norrells. |
