anyone tried removing krylon fusion paint to get back to the color that was it was originally? how hard was the process? what would you recommend? 2000 grit sand paper and wet sanding?

I have removed the Krylon camo paint useing green scuff pads and strike hold or other solvents in the past and while hard, it is possible. I think maybe useing some kind of thinner or stripper might be of help to the process as well.

Soak it in acetone to loosen it, then scrub at it with hard bristled toothbrush.

Please don't plan on giving the toothbrush back to your wife and figuring she won't notice....

I have had very god luck with carb cleaner in the spray cans... It is a little more aggressive than brake clean.  Just make sure not to smoke while spraying it....lol

Those $1 spray carb cleaner cans from Wally World come in pretty handy, I use them all the time for stripping, and degreasing projects.

will any of these methods mess up the plastic undernieth the krylon or the original color?

Highly doubtful that the plastics will be bothered.  I've done it before, and never had any issues with the plastics.

Just use Gun Scrubber The krylon comes right off.

On the cheap you can use carb cleaner.

I used the $1 carb cleaner I bought from the dollar store :). It took the Krylon right off, it actually ran off like it was being melted. Whatever did not run off was easily wiped off with a rag.

No sanding or scrubbing was needed when I did it. The plastic was fine afterwards. Oh, I used it on my AR's handguards and pistol grip!

Carb cleaner is a great stripper/ degreaser that I use for many projects.  At a buck a can, I try to always keep a case of it on hand.
