The topic of how different finishes show up under NV has come up a couple times in various threads with people posting pictures of one or another thing, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try and consolidate some photographs of different firearms finishes as a reference for how they look under NV.  Hopefully others will add to it.

First, white light:

Parts are:

Colt LE6920 lower and MR556A1 upper, spray painted with Rustoleum and Krylon camouflage paints
Geissele DDC HK416 SMR
L3/Insight/EOTech - XPS hood and battery cap are anodized FDE, as is the body of the G.33.  The main body of the optic is FDE polymer, and the magnifier has an FDE molded rubber cover, the ATPIAL is FDE polymer
Wilcox Industries Tan risers (receiver and front sight) and magnifier flip mount and shoe, the whole thing came together as a kit, and each component is a different shade, ranging from a "light gold" to a "port wine," the kit has about six different shades, and I've seen even more on other Wilcox Industries components.
Surefire FA556-212 in factory DE Cerakote, and M600C Scout anodized DE, this is the earlier "gloss" anodizing, not the later matte anodizing
Heckler & Koch factory anodized charging handle and RAL8000 molded polymer ejection port cover, I also included a non-painted MR556A1 lower, the receiver extension is a BCM 6-position, not the factory HK.  The magazine in the rifle is also an HK416 steel "High Reliability" magazine with the factory black finish.
Finally, I also threw in an LMT FDE molded SOPMOD stock, and a Glock FDE G22 magazine with +1 extension

Photographs are taken through a MOD-3 with an iPhone, so they're not super great, but give a decent idea of how the different finishes compare.

I'll try to add a worthwhile response to this thread soon.

Great thread Augee. Should have had this type of thread a long time ago...

Did studies way back when with KAT precision coatings and how they show up under NOD's and IR Lum vs. some other standard anodized. Great stuff and IMHO still some of the best Day/Night coatings out there.  Bar none, the IR suppression as well of this stuff is still some of the best I've seen even after 6 years.
