I'm leaning at purchasing a Pulsar 19 as my first thermal monocular. I'm confused at the different models available. After performing some searching I ran across a UK site with this information.
I'd like to get the newer XQ series and I'm not interested in the LD 9hz models. Also, there are the A and S listed after the 19. I think that is LED verses OLED? Lastly, I don't even see the XQ19 on Pulsar's webpage. Where can I get an XQ19a or s? help ![]() |

I have the HD19s which is the same as the HD19a except the "s" has the better OLED display and where the "a" has a standard LCD display. I've probably run 30 sets of batteries through it. That's a lot of hours spent behind the unit and I couldn't be happier with it. Very easy to use, easy to nuke and the image quality is awesome in the price point. You can still find them from time to time on eBay for around the $2k mark. Money well spent! Retail was $3k when I purchased mine.
If you're looking to purchase a new unit, PM me and I'll be happy to help you with that also. |

Yes but I believe the HD Version are older models. The newer have 4 as opposed to 3 buttons on the top. This pdf shows the LQ19 (9Hz) and the XQ19 (50Hz) (4th generation models) where the HD is the 1st and 2nd generation models. Or at least that is what I believe. The newer models have the pixel size of 17 and the older HD are 20 or 25? So confusing. |
| yes they were 25um and now they are 17um, so with the 19mm lens the smaller sensor gets some magnification , i went for the hd model 25um core as i wanted to be able to walk around with it or perhaps mount it on the car to drive with , and with magnification that would be tricky , its great round buildings to 100yds or so but runs out of range - the latest units will stretch out a lot further |

Worse than buying a car, I've called several websites which sell the Pulsar series and I only get automated responses and an option to leave my number. Still looking for a website or someone to tell me the differences between the models, not looking for "get it at xyz place" which results in an automated call system. Arrg. Frustrating. I'm thinking perhaps the newer models are only available overseas since the only XQ19 videos I've seen are from this September and in the UK. |
| i think they are about 2k ukp. over here so about 2500$ at a guess but most hunting shops stock the 38 or the 50 as they seem more popular for seeing little things like rabbits or foxes, you do have a lot of other choices of thermal over there but maybe not so cheap |

I've since received my XD19a from NightGoggles and I frickin love it. Every night I do a walk around my house and see animals I never knew where there. Tonight I walked out and 10 feet away was a racoon which didn't move since it figured I couldn't see him. lol. I can see mice or chipmunk in a stack a wood 30-50 yards away. The DVR recorder works well although I don't like how the record and stop record function. LOVE IT. |
