I searched around and did not see (or I missed) any topics on how to sight in your night vision. A friend of mine has given me(an extended borrowing) a sc/pvs-300.
I want to mount it on my Benjamin Marauder PCP 22 air rifle. This thing is a tack driver and I have some raccoons in my barn that need attention. Any way how do you sight them in during daylight hours? It has cross hairs in the sight but I understand you shouldn't turn it on in the light so....any help comments would be appreciated.

Does it have a pinhole daylight cover like a PVS14 or can you make one? That is what I used when I mounted my 14 on my AR. Or just do it at dusk on an overcast day. Got any long hallways in your house?

A little bit of reflective tape and an IR light, or a really low strength white light in the dark will do it.

In some cases I the device may have a pinhole cover for use during the day, but it may give you some POI shift.

Most of them came with the AN/PVS-3 Lens cap, if so it doubles as a device to allow you to sight in after sunset but before dark. Leave the cap on and try it in that time frame, then take it off to shoot in the dark.

The cap has a very dark green filter in it which is for this use.

I think it does have that cap. It has a dark window about the size of a quarter.  Is this scope an IR or thermal scope(this ought to show my ignorance of NV equipment)?  If it's IR I have a very old Russian NV that ought to provide IR illumination for sight in. What would I use the reflective tape for? Or do you mean light reflective like on safety equipment or vest? And just use that as a target?

It is night vision not thermal. Not sure what he was talking about(reflective tape). The window is larger than a quarter more like a silver dollar or maybe bigger, if you hold it up and look at a light through it the light it will be a very dim green(the lens cover). The lens cover is meant to reduce the light level to a point where it will not harm the tube from sunset to dark to allow for sighting in. It is not recommended to do this on a regular bases and only when necessary to sight it in.
