Had some points to burn on Amazon so I saw something that looked interesting. cheap IR Light
Should be delivered Monday so I will go out and play with it that night if the weather holds. I will report back hopefully with some pictures. As usual, if you need a serious IR light, go see Vic at TNVC, this is more out of curiosity. |

Link They turn night into day for you night-vision equipment. ETA: excellent for fixed fortifications, or perimeter illumination. |

I have a couple. It can illuminate a tree line pretty well 600yds away or more on high power. Or provide eye shine on predators, deer, etc in the next county over.
Two power levels so you can tone it down and zoom to help limit back flash. I use them with a PVS 14 when I would use 1,000,000 candle power spotlight if I didn't have a PVS 14. Too much IR light for most purposes, There is a less powerful AA powered light that works better on a helmet. $6 or $9, iirc. JPK |

it looks like the chinese have been taking t20 flashlight bodies, and putting osrams in them. this looks like a t20, but I'm not sure how to figure out which osram is in them. there is suppose to be a 2 - 18650 version of a zoomable 38mm ashperic available also. |

I'm using the same zoom able IR flashlight lol runs off a AA
The evolva is using the osram led with aspheric lens its high medium low with wide and beam outputs The cheap zoom able is great for a helmet and can be considered disposable if it breaks at 8-9$ I can light up a nice area when looking for varmints with it |

I don't often use IR, but my recollection is that the beam when zoomed out is very wide, as much fov as dual PVS 14's and then some and nicely diffused, I particularly recall a lack of harsh shadowing, because of the diffusion. I recall a cleaner zoomed beam than the OSRAM provides when fully zoomed, i.e., no square with shadows. Also just a note, but my three PVS 14's have 720nm IR pass filters on them.
One of the EBay adds gives the AA light a 1.5hr run time, but I have yet to have to replace a battery in four month of ownership and probably 20hrs of time on the PVS 14's in that time frame, though, again, I don't often use IR. I'll try it when I get home from hunting with my son. Should be able to provide a fresh report tomorrow night. And for something like $6-$12, not much to loose. They do offer the smaller 3w light in 940nm (bigger one too,) but the red glow has yet to cause me an issue, and I can tell if it is on w/o a PVS 14 on. JPK |

It looks like that Evola only uses the rechargeable battery right? Anyone know if they make a 123A version? most if not all of these t20 ir lights are copies of the homebrew illuminators from the uk nightvision forum. most will work with 2x cr123 batteries. the only exception i know of are the ones sold on facebook by ian. if the evola is 3 mode than its probably using the nanjg ak47a driver and should handle 6v no problem. the ones i built work fine. | yup alot of people mod them and sell them for like 3 time what they have in them. i spent like maybe 80 bucks total on 2 lights and a few drivers (ak47 drivers), oslon osram black leds, star boards for the olslon and the flux and liquid solder to do the relowing on the leds. You can get the star boards with the leds already flowed on from mountain electronics for something like 14 bucks i think. |

Just figured I would throw it in I like using the evolva on low or medium power mode widebeam to watch a area I set it up like a portable floodlight
If I have critters coming into my yard I can just set it up and it lights the yard up or worry area The 18650 battery works great for this I like the IR motion sensor floodlights I might have to try a couple It's a truly awesome beam also on high power I can shoot it across fields ...I have a 250 yard driveway lights it up no problem like day light I don't even need the highest setting That cheap helmet light is on eBay Here's a link hope this helps might take a bit depending who you order mine got to me in a week surprisingly http://m.ebay.com/itm/Tactical-5W-940nm-LED-Infrared-Radiation-Night-Vision-Light-IR-Flashlight-Torch-/121754828840?nav=SEARCH |

on the t20, there is a lock ring on the lens you take off, then the lens comes out and everything else should be self explainatory. found a youtube video on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XS_x7feDhMs thanks for your help on this |
