I bought my first PVS 14 last year and now am wanting to purchase another to set up as duals. In buying the second, do I need to purchase the same tube type, model, brand, ect for them to look correct? Looking really hard at the mod-armory bridge - thought?
Thanks |

Just as an example, my duals had 23 and 26 SNR in the tubes, and every other spec was lacking in the other too. Only usually visible exception was that the lower spec tube had better much smaller halos and that's something you notice. So from my experience try take a tube with similar halo if not anything else. If you're not using in environments where lights are visible then that doesn't matter either. |

I am relatively new to the dual setup so I am still learning/experienting.
A matched set will be great, but anything close should be fine. Both of mine are Pinnacle tubes, but one is a bit dimmer at the same gain setting. Fortunetely it can be corrected by adjusting the gain. Other than that, I can't tell much difference so far. The ability of converting to a mono on the fly sets the MA dual bridge apart from other options currently available. You pay a bit weight penalty, but most of the weight gain is from the dual 14 units. AB Mod3 is another option, but it doesn't use PVS-14 housing. I am able to get a good adjustment with an INVG/TATM mounts. Most people prefer the G24 mount. Wilcox's offering looks very interesting, but the release date is still unknow. A dual 14 setup is heavy compare to an Anvis or a Sentinel. I need ~1 lb of counterweight for prolonged usage. With a mono setup, I need only a few batteries for that. I am trying to figure out a way to use bungee cord for counter weight, but so far I haven't find a perfect solution yet. |

just remember that any blems, spots, burns, etc on one tube will translate into both tubes when used together and your brain fuses the images together.
I try to keep my tubes as closely matched as possible, but I've mixed extremely different tubes Gen 3 Pinnacle with a completely different color Gen 2+ and it wasn't too bad. My eyes and brain were pretty forgiving with it, and I never had any headaches. For me, having the same type of glass was significantly more important than matching the tubes. There are lots of eyepiece types, and they aren't all the same even though they look different externally. Using different eyepieces gave me some massive headaches. Most objectives are the same optically, but if you get commercial objectives, or import objectives, they might be slightly off, or create fuzziness on the outside perimeter. |
| There is one thing to mention that I'm not sure is a problem with tubes in the US or only with tubes exported outside, but I had a tube that had a nonuniform view in that it skewed the view slightly. Meaning straight lines at a certain location in the tube looked wiggly. I paired that with a good tube and the view was not pleasant. |
