Hey all, this is my first post, although I have been lurking for several months. Anyway many of you have answered my questions already in your posts and you seem like a great community, so my hat is off to you.

This is my situation. I recently bought an Armasight Prime Pro 3.5 gen 2 unit. I am very happy with the build quality and performance. My issue is that I want to mount the nvg to a helmet and the 3.5x becomes a big issue. So is there another lenses opinion for 1x magnification? I have looked, but nothing has come up, probably not searching the right stuff. Anyways, thanks in advance.

Also, I bet some of you will say I should have went gen3, maybe next time, but it was way out of my budget.

With that lens it is meant as an observation scope. I doubt a 1x lens is available but contacting Armasight is your best bet. One of the nice things of a PVS-14 is it is a 1x scope with optional milspec lenses to add magnification when needed. Parts and options for a PVS-14 are plentiful. These Russian scopes are tougher to find parts for and not as versatile as a PVS-14.

This is why guys here tell folks to avoid this gear. The price seems attractive until you try to find lenses, mounts and so forth for these scopes. Call Armasight and see what they say.

As Dino said, The Prime Pro is meant as an observation unit. Great for those on a budget looking for something to mess around with or throw in their survival bag but it's
limited in what you can do with it because it's designed like a lot of the Night Owl/Yukon/ATN Gen1s out there except its been reconfigured to use a Gen2 tube.

There's no way to head or weapon mount it and it's just for observation. Armasight used to sell a 1x lens and head mount kit for their other entry level unit(the Avenger) but i'm not sure if they do anymore. Anyways, for that same price ballpark($1000-1500) you could have a used PVS-7, ENVIS, or even an Armasight Sirius with a 3x Magnifier and call it a day.  If you're just looking for something to mess around with, the Prime Pro will work fine, just be aware of it's limitations.
