I'm looking in to getting a 4ish power scope for a suppressed 300 blackout for some night pig hunting.
Looking to spend around 1500, give or take. Would the armasight nemesis be my best bet? |

I have seen your post over on Snipershide, unfortunately I can't communicate over there (banned) but since you've cast your net in this forum I will. Give you my opinion.
A quick and dirty on NV because you seem to be taking input and wanting to run with it which indicates that you have sparse real world use of the technologies... This is an assumption and not meant to be derogatory. Intended use: do you plan to shoot with a group at night or solo? Hunting only or a need for covert use? City or light polluted areas or backwoods country? Do you have any needs for use during daytime/dawn/dusk situations? Technology: green tube image intensification (I2) or digital - two VERY different technologies. One is proven and viewed as the pure form of NV (I2) the other is relatively new to the civilian market, still going through teething pains but is an emerging tech that could be the future of NV. One will impress your friends and both will get the job done... I am a Pulsar Digisight N750 fan, there are used units that come up for around 1k - to me it is the best bargin in NV for price/performance. With an external illuminator you will command any wide open hunting area out to 250 yards. Many hogs can attest to this scopes capabilities although none can speak to it at the moment ;) I don't own one nor have I been selected to review one but the TNVC M845 is built to be a fast acquisition (red dot) style sight that is lightweight and built with rugged and durable components. The Gen 2 is in your price range. There are many other scopes out there so I'll let others tell you about the Armasight Nemesis. HTXH |

TNVC: PVS-4 Gen 2 ....I am in the same boat as OP and this is what I am probably going to get:
PVS 4 Gen 2 Here is a recent look through a PVS-4 by a ARF member: PVS-4 Review Also I have to admit the Pulsar n750...well it gets the job done with a good IR like the Torch pro

In that price range you're better off scoring a decent, used PVS-14 and cheap IR laser, or weapon mount it with a 3x magnifier behind an NV-compatible optic if you're stuck on weapon-mounting. used PVS14 type behind a weapons mount is a great option for your price range. |

To start with, I've never looked through the M845. I did get the chance to hunt with a guy that had an Armasight Nemesis 4x in the Gen 2 quick silver/ white phosphor tube. Liked it enough to buy it as a back up/ buddy's rig to my ATN Thor thermal 2x. Ended up liking it so much, I bought another one for my father. When hunting with my 2x thermal, I will ask for the Nemesis 4x user to take a look at what I've spotted to get a better confirmation that it's not a deer. With a good IR, the Nemesis 4x is good for hog-sized game out to 300 yards without breaking a sweat.
On the Nemesis, I also got the QD mount to be able to swap back and forth between day and night scopes. It was about $100 and has held zero very, very well. |
