So I have been thinking long and hard about which way to go on my PVS set-up. (right now I only have the PVS and a Skullcrusher)

I was planning on just buying an IR illuminator and a twist mount from TNVC to mount it behind my 1-4x, but I from what I have read I will be happier with an IR laser.

My question is, will the Rhino mount work good with a team wendy bump helmet?

I just flat out do not have enough money to drop on a Wilcox mount, Team Wendy Helmet, Torch Pro and a ITAL, so a used Rhino mount is about my only option right now unless I weapons mount it and use the PVS as a handheld scanner before I attach to my rifle.

What are your thoughts?

Nothing wrong with a rhino

The military has been using them for years, I have one I'm using on my team Wendy bump helmet.

The other couple guys I'm friends with that have 14's all use a rhino as well.

Its nice to have a high end mount with lots of extra adjustability but for the price you can get a used rhino and save a ton of money.

Yep, the Rhino is fine.

There is a bit of slop where the J arm plugs in, but a layer of nylon tape tightened mine up perfectly. Got mine on egay for $25. It is almost new.

Thanks.

I could always buy a fake wilcox mount from china from the Airsoft stores for $90

The rhino mount will work, the nice thing is that it will mount directly to the TW helmet without any adaptors.  I ran one for awhile before I got my INVG.  I would definitely upgrade from the skullcrusher to the TW helmet before spending money on a high end mount.  I think you'll be happier with a headmounted PVS and IR laser than with weapon mounting it.

+1                      Going from a skull crusher to a helmet mount is a real game changer!

If you're going to go with the Rhino- do yourself a favor and get the newer titanium Rhino.  Can be had on eBay for $60-$80, and they are worth the extra $40 over the older version of the Rhino.

I see brand new AKA2's on eBay all the time for $200 or less. I've bought two of them for under $200. For that price, there is little reason to "made due" with a Rhino when you can have one of the best mounts out there.

Just my $0.02 in a world where pennies are worthless.

I have to agree with you there, but the only down side is that a Wilcox J-arm or Dual Dovetail is going to double the price. The TATM and AKA2 are some of the best mounts for the money if you shop around.

You can get the AKA in bayonet if you want to forgo the added expense of a dovetail mount.

I have a TW bump helmet and Rhino combo. I use it for hunting and it works great! I added a lasermax IR laser and a surefire 952 to my rifle, both bought off of the EE. The lasermax is ok till I have an extra $600 to spend on a new laser, but I continue to keep an eye out on the EE for any good deals on IR lasers or a good mount. I paid $25 bucks shipped for my rhino mount on EE, and I could turn around and sell it for the same price, but I have got my $25 out of it.

I too picked up a used rhino in the EE and am on a tight budget as well. Dealing with the slop I got an idea from the Wilcox G11 mount. I drilled and tapped 8-32 into the top of the rhino j-arm receiver and installed an allen screw. Granted, you have to loosen it to break the mount and j-arm down but, it does not have anymore slop. Cheap and it works.

I suggest going for the Titanium USGI rhino over the standard rhino. I have two of the Titaniums, to me it makes the most sense if you are trying to save money.  They lock up tighter than a standard rhino, I dont know if that is because the titaniums I got were new but it truly is the best bang for your buck as far as mounts go.
