Does anyone have any plans to break out the night vision for the meteor shower tonight?

I just got my pvs this week, so I have never had the chance to do it. Has anyone witness something like this before with their NV devices?

This a newly discovered shower, so no guarantee's how good or bad it will be. Looking up at the sky with a Gen 3 device is spectacular!

It really is mesmerizing. I do it for hours at a time. I only wish NODs had a much wider FOV. It's amazing how much you can see in the nighttime sky, but that's eclipsed by how much we actually miss with current NV technology.

I would suggest THESE , but they are a bit restricted unfortunately.

**Disclaimer**, these images are NOT from the actual GPNVG but rather PVS-14 pics Photoshopped together to give you the panoramic views.

HA! You guys are killin' me.
The occurrence of celestial events of ANY importance or interest means one thing here in NW Oregon: It's gonna be solid overcast. There have been no exceptions in recorded history.

I have NV. I guess I'll watch TV with them while you have fun.

Looks like it will be cloudy here in central Texas tonight so I might be out of luck also.

Marshall18, around here the old term "starlight scope" had no meaning. Very few people can remember what stars are. "Night scope" is understood.

Nothing but clear skies here and we're almost in the direct-best path the showers ("storm") are expected to take.

I'll enjoy it enough for both of us!

it is really kind of unknown, as this is debrie that has not been encountered before, so there are some estimates that it could be be over a few days.

information off the spaceweather.com site
some stuff off space.com

Not much meteor activity seen here. I saw 4, maybe 5 faint, fast ones and checked Spaceweather in the morning.
They reported 5 to 10 per hour in "some places" and then went on and on about this being a small comet and explained how nobody could have reasonably thought it would be a big shower, even though Spaceweather had claimed it just might be.
They closed with the comment that the calculations might have been off, and it COULD happen later on the 24th.

Pretty lame if you ask me.

BTW, I had expected to buy a FLIR T-75 today with money that was expected to flow into my account. But I checked the balance and have only 5 or 10 Dollars. But, the money COULD arrive later today, though....You just never know.

You have $10 in your bank account?

After buying a PVS-14 and an LWTS on the same day, my account has been DRAINED.

Same here. I stayed out from about 11PM to 2AM looking up at the sky. I did see a 3-4 spectacular ones -- the kind that move a little slower and go on for a few seconds -- but aside from that it was a complete let-down. My wife came out around midnight with "her" NODs (I tell them they're hers so I can buy more, chicks are so gullible ), and we proceeded to skywatch together. She bored quickly as literally nothing happened for close to a half-hour.

What a bust.

On a more positive note, I was abducted again... I think. My ass hurts anyway.

....And as others reported, not too much going on that I saw. Saw more cigar smoke than anything else.

Well, I'm glad the clouds prevented me from dragging the girlfriend out of the house at 1am.

Sounds like it was a bust. Maybe next time.
