Thoughts?
I'm considering ordering one. Would be a nice small package to carry this and the pvs14 in when on the go. |

I think it's pretty ugly and I'd rather just wear a bump helmet if you're going for something super light.. I think that bump helmet, which I have, is a better fit but the reason why this appeals to me is I can take my pvs14 and this in a very small package in my backpack when out and about. Quoted:
got mine. they forgot to include instructions. I also wasn't aware i had to drill my own holes. waiting for a shroud so i can test it out. Please let us know how you like it. If you have pics that would be great. |

Does anyone know what the goggles shown are?
It looks almost like half of a GPNVG-18. The objectives look familiar, they appear slightly divergent, and the ocular looks kind of similar, I think I can see the clip-in diopter plate. Hmmmmm.. For related content, I like the look of this product. Maybe when I upgrade my ACH to an INVG I will swap my TATM over onto one of these. |

I'd like to know more about the front of the rig. Is there a hard-molded plate that you drill into for shroud fitment? How much padding is there? Pad seperate from the plate?
Will a Norotos one hole shroud work? 3 hole? Do the typical ACH screw kits work as designed or will I need to find my oen mounting bokts of correct length? |

I have a PVS-14 and a USGI head crusher mount. What is needed for the nightcap? I have a J-arm. Can I use any of the shrouds? Then I guess there is a piece between the j-arm and shroud. You'll need a 3 hole shroud and a mount that will accept the J-arm. |

Just got mine setup with a wilcox shroud (thank you tnvc)
setup was relatively simple. works great with my pvs-14, dual dovetail and INVG. lines up perfectly as i had it set up on my airframe, just a tad bit closer to my face. It could definitely benefit from a counterweight. Other than that i have no complaints. any specific questions let me know. If you want pictures of something specific i can email it as i don't know how to host pictures. |

There's a PDF on the crye site that explains the set up. You need a 3 or 4 hole shroud and the holes are already there you just need to punch them out with something like an exacto knife. I'd have it together if ups delivered my 3 hole shroud today.

Wondering this myself. Have you tried running and jumping with the thing on? |
|
I don't have much opportunity to try wearing it for long periods of time, i doubt the fiancé will agree to spend the evening with lights out.
i think a helmet it more stable, running and jumping. i tried it again today, this time using an soe battery/strobe pouch as a counterweight. it helps a little. running and jumping there is movement and inertia. its all fabric so there will definitely be movement. i find it moves more when the NVD is in the up position on the INVG then when it is over my eye. when over my eye, the movement is decreased and the bouncing is reduced, relieving pull on my head. don't know why it works out that way, i thought it would be opposite. i'm happy with it. sure a helmet will be more stable, but it also costs a lot more and takes up a shit load of space and is heavy. with the nightcap, i can keep a head mounted system and pvs14 in my cargo pocket. |
