I know those of you with a PVS-14 couldn't really care less, but who else is really looking forward to the release of the Sightmark Photon?

I've been reading reviews from Brits who've had theirs for months. Nearly all of the reviews were positive. The resolution is similar to the Pulsar N550, but it's expected to be about half the price.
The best feature, in my opinion, is the ability to use digital night vision during the day with no ill effects.

I'm planning to get one for my suppressed 300 Blackout.

Digital is neat, I'll take a couple of these when they come out.

There will be a 3.5x version that is even less cost.

And the 5x version will be the standard.

I think I'd prefer the 3.5x version, I've had concerns that 5x may be a bit much for the intended use of the 300 BLK.

From what I gather from the U.K. website  http://main.yukonopticsglobal.com/products/digital-night-vision-riflescopes.html

The 3.5x will have an LED illuminator and the 5x has the laser illuminator.

Having tested the 5x with laser illuminator I can tell you that it overpowers the image (washout) and if you plan to shoot surpressed and inside 100 yards you will be better suited with the wider field of view and less powerful LED illuminator.

Here is a quick vid I took with the 5x a couple of weeks ago.

Great video, thanks! It's the first good look I've had at daytime use.

Been watching the British websites for close to a year now. Most of the reviews I have seen look extremely promising and folks are already starting to mod them for even better results. I have a Gen 2+ on my primary hog gun but will be getting one of these to put on a rifle for my kids to use. If they can handle the recoil of a .308, I think these are pretty much going to make Gen 1 scopes obsolete.

Not until the importer acknowledges that they are in the US and post a press release with the official MSRP.

While I'm waiting for the release date, I've been shopping for an add-on IR light.
For now, I have an Ultrafire 502b with a 5W IR LED. I'm waiting on an aspheric lens also.

I've been looking at the Dereelight Night Master, but I've read that might be a bit overkill for the Photon.

It should be a nice compliment to the scope, if you could somehow figure a way to work in a dimmer and doubler you'd be set :)

I couldn't wait any longer, I ended up getting a Pulsar N750 based on your reviews.
I do have to say it's pretty awesome

Sturm-

The n750 is far superior to the photon, not even in the same league.

Photon puts you in the game, digisight makes the game a lot easier.

I am glad that you found my review informative.

Thx,

I'm glad I made the right choice.
Your reviews were great. Thanks

This is the lens I got. It's a bit wider than the bezel of the 502B, but the focal length is perfect for the 5W LED I got off ebay.
I used superglue to hold it on, then JB Weld to extend the bezel around the lens.

Dealers are now taking orders on the Photon. They come in a 3.5x and a 5x version that have slightly different specs (with either a laser or IR illuminator). You can see the versions on the Yukon website now. I put in my order yesterday for the 3.5x version since the specs are better (1/3" CMOS instead of 1/4" CMOS and 50% higher resolution display) and it was $100 cheaper . Supposedly there was an order of 16 units that came in a few weeks ago and 200 more scheduled to arrive within the next month. For less than $500 I am willing to be the guinea pig on this one ;-)

I am not a dealer just a digital NV enthusiast.

I talked to Ceylon @ Delta Outdoorsman (Pretty popular dealer on Snipershide), and I believe he had some already, and is getting some more. I'm trying to get one before Christmas so I'll be patiently waiting.
