Iron sights = IR laser use

4x scope = IR laser, Clip on or PVS-14 mounted behind day optic (not best choice). IR laser or clip on would be my preferred method with the laser and head mounted 14 most likely being the cheaper route.

ETA: Dedicated NV rifle scope or clip on would be my first choice for long range shots but this was not an option listed by the OP

Yep, helmet mount or the dreaded skullcrusher (USGI head mount) The skullcrusher is not terrible for short outings. If you wear it for any length of time you will get a pounding headache. Few can tolerate the skullcrusher. OpsCore makes a great helmet for NV and the PT helmets are not bad for a budget setup. I have both and the OpsCore is hands down the best but for the money the PT helmets are not bad choices. Tons of helmet mounts exist and it really boils down to what you can spend. Most are pretty good. You can easily drop 5 bills on a fancy helmet mount Good options exist that are much cheaper.

I don't allow my pvs-14 to visit my rifle. I keep my 14 on my noggin and use an IR laser. If I need shots out past 100m I use a dedicated NV rifle scope ( Gen 3 PVS-4) mounted on its own dedicated upper.
