I have read up a bit and it seems that everyone likes the PVS-14 helmet mounted with and IR laser for hogs/critters at night.  How does a helmet mounted  NOD work when trying to look through and EoTech/Aimpoint?   Is it feasible or foolish to use your NOD this way?

It is usually an either/or situation.  You either mount the PVS-14 on your rifle and use it to look through an Eotech or Aimpoint, or you helmet mount the NOD and use only an IR laser that you have sighted in for a known distance, or sight the laser in so it is parallel to your rifle barrel bore and always aim the same distance left or right.

It isn't really possible to look through a rifle mounted optic using a helmet mounted PVS-14.   It sticks out much too far to get a good cheek welk on the rifle and you will wind up bumping your NOD on the top of the rifle.

It's not practical to line everything up.

Also consider bore sighting the ir laser instead of sighting it in at a particular distance.  IMO and experience overseas this is a lot better.
