I know there's a ton of options out there and it's been discussed a lot....but I've got to ask one more time.  Are they worth the extra dollars in comfort/stability over my PT bravo?  If I'm not getting shot at, do the ballistic shells offer any benefits in stability or comfort?

I kind of like wearing a MICH/ACH type helmet, actually. The added weight of the ballistic shell keeps the total systems center of balance closer to the center of your head, I find. Less neck strain.

That said, you really need an improved mount and shroud, chin strap and pad solution.

I've got a Norotos single hole shroud, Norotos TATM, wilcox pvs14 dovetail helmet adaptor, Ops core H-nape, and soon upgrading to the team wendy epic pad system. It's very comfortable as is, the epic pads should be even better!

I've also been considering grabbing a second shell and chopping it TC2001 style for better comtac compatibility. There are xonplete helmets selling in the $125 range at surplus now.

I think the juice is worth the squeeze. Spend a few extra dollars and pick up a base jump or Team Wendy EXFIL. The ballistic helmets do add a bit more stability, because it's already weighted, so the balance almost evens out with a PVS-14.
