Got my PVS 14.  Not impressed with the shoe string to secure it.  What are you guys using that is better to secure it when on a helmet and handheld?

Check out http://tnvc.com/shop/category/helmet-accessories/

I don't know what you are using  but there are several options out there.

They have the Down Range Gear bungee types.
MM has a review http://www.militarymorons.com/equipment/headwear2.html

I like the Wilcox lanyard but that may be the shoe string type you are referring to.

I made my own helmet tether with a heavy piece of fishing leader/crimps and a snap clasp from a Surefire light cord.

Willcox makes a retractable lanyard that can be used, but may depend on your mount.

I used the TNVC mount, puts a plasticky buckle and elastic system under the helmet plate last year in afghan.  Worked great, easy on and off, just unclip the buckle and you're good.

This, plus an extra surefire lanyard I had to secure it to the helmet.  Worked w/ my MUM, works w/ my PVS-14.
