I am looking for a suitable mount for my Zeiss Orion 80. It has got a STANAG base as part of the scope. TNVC sells the M845 scope with STANAG #310 base which places the scope far enough back to make it usable. Would this base fit the Orion? If yes, what would be the source to get it?
Thanks: longshot270

Hell I got a leapers thumbscrew Picatinny/Stanag mount for $10 at Optics Planet and it seems to work just fine.

Can you post a link/picture of your base? I can't seem to find it on Optics Planet.
Here is mine with ARMS #7.

The link below shows the M 845. Eye piece is positioned well over the tang ensuring comfortable viewing position.

It seems no one is familiar with the base in question. I may have to inquire at source of manufacture. Anyone have some idea of the producer or assembler of the M845? Posting a link would help me greatly.

There is the Leapers one I used.  FWIW I have not zero'ed with it yet, but the contrsution seems fine and the scope had a nice snug fit.

Dumb question, but if you want a M845 base, why don't you just call TNVC and ask them if you can get one?

I did find the Leapers riser. What I can see that it centers the scope right above the action, no extension to the rear. As far as not contacting TNVC - I believe they monitor these pages and have no comments on the issue.

They do, but they can't be everywhere and often don't see all the threads. Just depends on how busy they are at the shop. A quick PM to one of them would be all it takes to confirm. I would help answer but I have no idea and don't want to give you bad info.

Wow.  Take a little initiative and pick up the phone or send them an email...it isn't their job to check every post to see what people need.

I did call TNVC. They have no information on the base, other than it comes with the unit from Litton. Contacted Litton, didn't get far in their maze of subsidiaries either.
Have ordered the IOR flat top extended riser and turned it around in the rifle's base. In theory it was a good idea but I need higher base on the rifle to avoid ejection problems.
I may have to buy a mild recoiling Tikka -308 with their closed top action.
That's how it looks on the Sako A7:

Considering your rather unique application, and the fact that nothing "bolt-on" seems readily available to suit your likings, have you thought about custom machining something as others of us in similar circumstance have done?

I would give Ned over at Mounting Solutions Plus a call or Samson Manufacturing who do custom mount machining for pretty darn reasonable pricing. Hope this helps.
