| I have a litton tubed gen 2 NV unit that when you first turn it on it takes about 3 seconds before the tube lights up. After its been powered up for a while then turned off and back on it lights up fast like .5 second or less. The tube looks and works good right now other than that delay I was just wondering if the PS was going out or something else any one have any ideas? |
| Can be caused by a break down in the potting material. Unless it gets worse I would not worry. The only real fix is to repot the tube which is not cost effective. Some work like that for years with no issue. Had tubes do this before. Usually it can be a sign of a poorly repotted tube or just age and cracks in the potting material. |

The unit is still under warranty so was thinking of sending it back just not sure what the company policy will be on repair, replace, or anything. They most likely will not do anything because some tubes just take longer to build up voltage and start. It is not really a defect unless it get worse or starts to flicker. What I am telling you are just possibilities. For some tubes it is just par for the course. Taking longer to start from a cold start is not necessarily a defect. Now, if it gets worse or is having problems after it is warmed up I would send it in for a look see. As it stands now I don't really think you have any issue to be concerned about. |

yes, Dino is correct. Some tubes just take longer to start up. It would be great to know about the tube too. ! :) My xx2540BP tubes take about 3 seconds to start up if they have been off for a while. I believe it's the power supply is taking time to bring the tube up to operating power while making sure it doesn't appear to be a fault condition. Or it could just be that the tubes are weak on powering the screen and bringing it up to voltage. When it's been recently on, I can turn it on almost instantly, because the tube holds charge for quite some time after being turned off. So for me, it's normal - confirmed on several tubes. Otherwise the tubes operate normally and don't show any signs of problems. Regards David
