| Anyone try one of these for a good review? |
| Digital is better then Gen 1 in my opinion. I have yet to find one that eclipses most Gen 2 or 3. Way overpriced for what you are getting. If I was somewhere in another country that had serious night vision restrictions then I may consider digital. In the US ? Never. I have one just to test its effectiveness so I am speaking from experience. They work but have severe limitations. Frame rate and battery consumption being top on the list. |

I got to finger one at a local gun show 2 weeks ago.. Obviously, I couldn't see it's low light performance, but the build was a lot better quality than I was expecting and the resolution was very good for being CCD based and looking thru such a small LCD display. The controls weren't particularly intuitive, and the unit is large. If they were $1000, I'd have picked one up just to try, but for $1700 they can keep it.
In particular, I am interested in the ability to design custom reticles for this and upload them.... There aren't a lot of options for shooting .22lr over long distances with NV because bullet drop is so bad-being able to make a BDC reticle might make it a possibility. |

Anyone try one of these for a good review? There was a review here this am, but it disappeared. I am sure it went poof because it was also a advertisement which would be against the rules. Had it purely been for educational purposes it would have stayed. I saw the review and while well done it was a pure advertisement. If the OP edits out the sales portion it would be useful to discuss here. |

Yes you did ! Was thinking to myself that it was going to get trashed so why waste my time ! Well, the "commercial" aspect wasn't very good as I don't even remember who the seller was, much like most ads on TV; I seem to recall that the OP had been a member for a while though unlike most spammers. Allstate ads on the other hand, those I remember....between the distictive voice of Dennis Haysbert from The Unit and Mayhem, they are hard to forget. I really like Mayhem! As for that "sales" review, it looked like the device flared badly, just like StupidVision. One thing that CCDs are very good at is detecting active IR; users remember your discipline. |
