Current (best) commercial digital = Gen1 equivalent - Very good out to about 100m with lots of IR. Not really useful beyond this range at all.

Current Military digital = Gen3 Thin Film equivalent = NOT available to civilians at this point.

The Nitemax units were pretty good.

They were not covert or anything. I sold mine a long time ago and saved for a PVS14 from TNVC.
