Looking for a night rifle scope only. No need for googles, day conversions, or otherwise. Everything I've seen so far internet-wise, says D-760 from a few sources is a really nice piece of equipment.
Any owners or tryers-out know much about this unit? Would be really grateful for a steer. It's a lot of money with any vendor of these things, so it's pretty important. Thanks in advance, Dave |

Hi Dave,
WELCOME to the ARFCOM! Give us a call and we would be glad to help you . There are MANY reviews and feedback here and on our Industry forum on the D-760. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=2&f=209 It's a great seller for good reason. Hope this helps and welcome once again. Vic |

Let me tell you, the D-760 works shockingly well in extreme cold weather! (Just don't let the batteries stay cold). Question for you Vic, is it advised to put anything on the glass for fogging? Or just try to minimize rapid temperature gradients? A word on the D-760, a Marine Sniper/instructor with much Afghanistan/Iraq experience was blown away by the clarity of my GenIII "hand select" D-760 from Vic. He said out of all his use of NV, there was maybe one Raptor that had better performance, more sensitive in no light and better sharpness, but terrible halo. He proclaimed my unit the best 6X "suburban" NV scope he had ever seen due to the low halo and high def. He actually had trouble believing that I LEGALLY bought such a unit! http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z238/edwin907/G2b.jpg One of these days we will have more mount adapters available. But I can personally vouch for the return to zero aspect of it, switching between TA55A and D-760 gave under 1/4 MOA shift. This was on my 16" Krieger Recon, not the rifle pictured. Great report Edwin, thanks! We've always said the D-760 optics with a hand select Pinnacle tube is VERY close to the Raptor. The Raptor edges the unit out with bringing in a BIT more light with that 180mm objective lens at extended ranges along (VERY dark conditions), with a bit more edge to edge sharpness along with some contrast. As for any fogging, (as you indicated),I would insure you equalize the temperature of the unit to field use ambient air as best you can before those cold nights of use. Hope this helps. Here is a few pics of each I should show more often. The camera DOES show the contrast a bit better with the Raptor, but the D-760 does not have the haze look as much as the camera depicts. The camera loves the 180mm objective of the Raptor to say the least. 100M

Nice looking rig edwin! Many thanks, but the thanks go to Vic for making these 1st class units available to us. I got to spend some time with a 3X mil-spec magnifier for the PVS-14. I was really impressed by the 3X, I'd consider this a must-have for the PVS-14. Weapon mounted with both the Aimpoint and the IR laser and it's a great compliment to my day kit which uses a 3X Aimpoint magnifier. Just swap and go! Vic will be placing an order for one very soon, along with the PVS-14 hard case & molle clip (very useful), and a VIP IR beacon. |

Anybody use a shaded filter to zero in daylight? Is there something that would fit on the front end of a D-760?
Camera lenses generally have universal filter sizes depending on the objective lens size. If the 760 had a threaded front end in a metric size, seems like I could get a super-dark filter and do the sighting biz when it wouldn't bother the neighbors so much. |

I just use the day cover that fits over the objective if I shoot the scope in the daytime. No issues shooting at targets at 100 yards this way. |

Vic, what camera set up are you using for pics? Any kind of adapter being used? Your pictures always look very good. Nice looking rig edwin! Nothing special but a Minolta DImage. I simply take of the rubber eye guard off the 760, cancel the flash and set the camera to auto. I place the 760 on tripod and hold the camera directly on the back of the 760 eye piece and snap away. The key is have the camera lock onto the target down range. With a Gen 3 ITT tube, not too difficult to get a lock, except for a Gen 2 or a Northrop Litton tube!

Just curious as to why it would be hard to get a "camera lock" with a Northrop Litton tube in Gen III configuration in a D-760? Anybody have an answer??? ????? Someone knows the answer?????
I thought you were fooling.... |

Got the new toy. Works awesome. Been sighting in daytime using the hole in the lens cap. Also been spotting in the pasture at night. There are 3 coyotes that appear to be resident. They haven't bothered any livestock yet, but I have sheep and as soon as they get close to them, they are toast.
Really impressed so far. Last night vision I used was Gulf War I in 1991 and it was AN/PVS-?? (6 I think) for helicopter. This thing is better. Loadsafun. |

I had a chance to finally use my fox pro fury last weekend at the deerlease. It took every bit of 3 minutes before we saw the first yote. Those dam things would come running into the caller! Might give it a shot if they keep staying out of range. |

Having a heck of a time getting zero. Not sure if it's the rifle (DPMS LR308), my lack of skill and experience, or the scope stability. Scope is rock solid on the mount. I was using the lens cap in the daytime and shooting a standard NRA 100 yd small-bore target at 100 yd. Shot group is way too big for what I would expect out of a scoped rifle.
Yotes have been hanging out in an area of the pasture that would be a 500 or 600 yd shot from my back porch. If I took a position down in the pasture, I'm guessing they wouldn't get very close. I was thinking about an electronic caller, but haven't got around to it yet. Can't wait to get rolling on the suppressor. MO requires me to be a dealer, so I have to do the Form 7CR first. |
| I have a dept. issue D740 that we purchased from Vic and it's on my personal AR-10T with a can. I tried to zero during the day before I had a chance to go out at night. For some reason it was all over the place during the day but I was able to get her zeroed at night. I have no idea what would cause this but a board member ( can't remember who it was) told me there was no getting around to zeroe/shooting at night, he was right. |

Take the day cover off as you can ONLY focus on the day cover with this on. POA/POI WILL suffer trying to shoot accurately with the day cover on. Hope this helps. |
