| I am looking for a night vision scope for my AR15 or M1A. I have been looking at ATN,Night Optics USA and Yukon. Are all of these companys good as far as quality an warranys are concerned? I am now mainly looking at the ATN "Trident" or the Night Optics "D-440" or "D-740". Are there any others that you would suggest? Thank You. |
| Yes, Stay far far away from anything ATN. I don't care if its a doghouse. If you are looking at a D-740 and the like call Victor. He won't let you down. I am sure He will see the post and point ya in the right direction. Anyone can get the housing. Its the tube in it that counts as well as having someone who stands behind what they sell 100%. I can tell you from experiance ATN stuff is not the way to go. Most if not ALL the other forum members will tell you the same thing. Don't walk but RUN!! Away from ATN Anything. I don't think it can be anymore clear then that. |
DinoSnyder couldn't be more correct! I see that Victor has already given you the chance contact him so...JUST DO IT!!! You'll learn a lot and will end up making a smart buying decision |

To add to the comments by others, "good" and "cheap" should never occupy the same sentence when it comes to NV gear. That is not at all intended to suggest that one should not look for the best value, quite the contrary. The best value comes from getting the highest quaility item possible within one's budget, rather than some piece of junk that will soon be replaced without much salvage value. Victor is very good about taking the time to understand one's particular application, and offer suggestions which he genuinely considers to be appropriate for same based upon his extensive experience with more devices than most of us will ever get the chance to actually use extensively. Don't sweat the tube life issue; thousands of hours is a lifetime for even the extreme NV user. Try wearing a monocular for 6-8 hours straight, and then figure that you might do so a couple times a month at most, and you will find that a couple hundred hours a year is fair amount of usage. I use my 14 probably as much as most, and have only had to change batteries a couple of times in the past 3 years. |
