The tube is perfect, and works like a dream. This was my "test" to see if I liked the whole NV thing. The answer is I do now its PVS-27 time, and thermal looks pretty cool. The problem is I'm a Civ and they wont let me buy the really cool shit.
You'd be surprised what you can get these days. Nice rig. |

Sure, you can have them all. One round at a time.

If I understand the questions correctly....A PVS-14 either in front of an ACOG or behind the unit will not work. The tritium is way too bright for the 14 to be stationed behind the unit, (plus you would have to move the ACOG several slots forward to make room for the 14). It will not work in front of the ACOG as you can and will have some major POA/POI shifts as there is no effective optical alignment. The PVS-22 is built for a real out the front optic for normal day optics. It works incredibly well with an ACOG due to the ACOGS superb glass along with only 4x magnification. The OSTI units also have a VERY effective Patented shock mitigation system that protects the intensifier tube from high recoil. Hope this helps. Vic |

Hah, I got one of Grant (G&R's) build a little after when Chris started running his SR16 11.5 upper. And hey, the man has good tastes! And yeah I played around with Costa's DBAL-A2H in San Jose's Carbine class. Those things are SUHWEET! Thanks Vic, I'm just waiting on the Form 4 (in the mail) for my KAC suppressor then it's perfection |

Thank you, guys!
That PVS-27 will have to wait for an OBAMA Bailout! I tell you, I can not say enough about how nice the PVS-22 is, The ability to snap it on the rail, and shoot, is incredible. Accuracy does not suffer at all, and the quaity of the image is outstanding. Fatigue is low, and variable magnification is a big plus over my 6X D-760 GenIII. And Chip, Vic, many thanks again and again! |

The padded shoulder straps make carrying a heavy weapon comfortable. The included shooting loop can be deployed to allow the shooter to rapidly sling up for much steadier positional shooting. Features •Heavy duty 1 ½” webbing, the same webbing we use in all of our rifle slings •1 ½” AustriAlpin “Elite” Cobra buckles •Shoulder straps are constructed of 1000 Denier Cordura, closed cell foam, and are separated to prevent neck pinching •User adaptability, shooter can change out swivels to fit different weapon systems •Weapon is supported by both shoulders, instead of one, which means less shooter fatigue after long periods of travel •Weapon is centered on the back for better balance when using two hands for other tasks such as carrying a primary weapon, or navigating steep terrain •Adjustable loop for shooting support •Available with heavy duty swivel, HK hook, or flush cup swivel attachments Identical to our RBS model with the exception of upgraded buckles. This model uses the 1 ½” AustriAlpin “Elite” Cobra buckles with a weight rating to guarantee the buckle will never be the failure point of the sling under any circumstances. |

Edwin what are the specs on that rig? Is that a 700 action dropped into a AICS? I've been up in the air about dropping a 700 into a AICS, or to go ahead and get a AE MK II. Hell, I've also been tossing around getting a DT SRS to. I'm going to have to get a third job or something to support my habit! |

OK, I'm out of drool.
Thanks to this thread, I think I want a PVS-22. I see from the TNVC site that they are now available to non-LEO/Mil guys like me. Rough idea of price? $5,000? More? Less? Lead time?

Just got most of the toys in last night. Waiting on an Aimpoint and AN/PEQ-2A clone that I got off ebay. The Eotech is just to bright for the NV even on its lowest setting. Also waiting on a surefire IR flashlight and helment light. Working on posting more, left my D90 at parents house so using my old D40x that I can't remember how to work anymore. I'll update soon with better and more. Vic what kind of mount do I need for the Aimpoint CompM3 to match up with my PV-14? Is the CompM3 a good choice?
ok having photo problems I'll fix this in a bit http://i788.photobucket.com/albums/yy164/fieldwalsh/DSC_0020-3.jpg |

Yes, it indeed uses a PVS-4 tube.

I've got one of those and it's performance is almost on par with a Gen II SHP D740. It has a greener tint than the D740 but I don't care for the reticle nearly as much as the D740...
|
|
|
The Darkstar reticle sure leaves alot to be desired.
