Ok, I'd emailed Shooters 101 to ask if it would work with the two smaller screws, never heard back.

Send them a message on IG. They tend to respond pretty quick there

I continue to evolve my helmet setup:

-TW Exfil Carbon $699
-HHV Lattice 3/4" pads $194
-Princeton Tec MPLS $69
-MSA Sordin w/Gel Cups $249
-AXL RAC Link kit (Ops Cor arm+link) $229
-Gibbous Outfitters Reinforced Rail Mounts For AMP Helmet Mounts $38
-TW helmet cover $70
-TNVC reverse programmed V1B light head $250
-Arisaka M300 light body $68
-Arisaka M300 offset light mount $48
-Surefire Z68 clicky cap $26
-Thrym VariArc mount $29
-TNVC Mohawk MK2 Gen 2 $89
-AB Night vision LPBP-GO battery pack $382
-Wilcox G24 mount $424
-Leonworx QD-NVL V1 retention   $29.99
-EOG low profile counterweight $41

Total $2,934.99 + S&H from multiple vendors.

This has been an expensive endeavor (for me), but it is what has been the most stable and comfortable setup.

Answers to anticipated questions:

-Yes I prefer the HHV to the 4D pads. My 4D pads are sitting in a box. I had the Deluxe kit from TNVC. The helmet is more stable with the HHV, comfort/lack of hot spots is the same (with head band), and its way cooler in the humid Midwest summer.
-Yes I know it's not going to stop a bullet, but neither will my face, and well, I KNOW 100% that my neck will take that weight literally every time I wear this contraption, but being shot in the helmet is a relatively slim roll of the dice. People have their own experiences and opinions, of course.
-Yeah, the TNVC reverse programmed light head is kindof a fluff/unnecessary piece, but it really is just super "nice" not to have to cover the light/dance fast through the hi-low of the Surefire normal V1-B.
-The NODS going on are RNVG-A with "SuperGain" tubes, which I spec'ed (37+ SNR, =<0.8 EBI, no L3 spec-sheet noted spots in Z1,2, or 3, some pepper okay, 72lp/mm+, PS 2300+). They are advertised as 20.5oz. I run LIF filters, De-mists, and butler creek flipcaps, so call it 22-23oz.

Nice setup and thanks for taking the time to share those details. I was intrigued by the Leonworks QD.NVL and I went and checked out their website. Then I saw the v2 and liked it even more! Sure beats the hella overpriced Kinetic Consulting NERD! Site owner responded right away and said the v2 will be restocked next Fri. Again, thanks!

The V2 certainly looks slicker, so to speak, but I really like the audible and tactile of the low-tech buckle. Both do the same thing, and I really like that there is a handy loop to secure the device to the larger Mohawk. That was always a concern of mine with the NERD, if the shear forces were such a way that removed the relatively small surface area of it. Much less risk with this. Well founded fear, or nah? I dunno, but I like it.

Finally got my Tracer Tactical head harness. Had to watch the YouTube video how to assemble it. Seems to fit and work pretty good. Very baseball cap like. Had to rig up some one wrap for the battery cable. Gonna play with this for a while and see how well it works over time. Folds up fairly compact.Attachment Attached File

this looks like a contender. I sold my nitecap as the straps hit my glasses. how easy is it to adjust? IE if I pass it to a normie to try out will it take 10 minutes of fiddling with buckles to adjust it?

Honestly, adjustment is kind of a pain in the ass. It's more of a setup that you setup once for yourself then leave it be. Once you get it dialed in it's pretty damn comfortable. Counterweight or external battery helps with counterbalance. Has an optional chin strap if you want it, but I didn't bother with that.

Boonie mod is simply putting the harness in a boonie cap and bolting the NVG shroud through the hat.

So I have a Galvion Caiman which I totally dig, probably the best helmet I've ever worn, and am looking to get a second as a spare / loaner. That said, I'm intrigued by the new MTEK Strike. Have a spare set of 4D pads I could throw in there.

Anyone here have an experience with the MTEK helmets? While I could add a BOA to the strike, i feel like it would be really hard to get away from the OC dial as Ive grown to love that.

Just curious...

Tan caiman, stripped the Velcro off (a real bitch with the adhesive they use), and sent off to Joint Force Enterprises for a Multicam tropic dip. Just need to add a little Velcro and she’s good to go. Really dig they way it turned out. Cut some adhesive cordura for the peltors. I must say the amp arms are 10x better than the 3Ms for keeping a seal on the ear pro.

Just waiting for my RNVGs to come back as a converted tanto / daisho setup.

EDIT: nice compliment to augeee’s Multicam above I must say

Speaking of Caimans, here's mine:

I swapped from my old Sentinel housings to the Low Light Innovations LLUL-21(v)2 and I really like them. I also swapped from a GSGM to the Wilcox G69 and it's nice and light.

The whole helmet as pictured is 4lbs 12oz, which is only 1lb 8oz more than an equivalently sized ACH/MICH2000 without any accessories or parts.

Whats you budget?

You can attach Howard Leights, but I think they suck, even with gelcups.

I have Sordins and think they are the bare minimum. Couple hundred for them, then associated mounts (AMP arms or wire mounts)

I have been using a cheap set of Peltor tac 6 I think.

I still need to do a few little tweaks and get the TNVC helmet task light and figure out how to run/secure my wire but otherwise it’s pretty much done.

Super happy with it for a semi budget setup.
