I think the D-740 lined up with da torch IR illuminator will be da best setup for you and your prices and shoot range.  Realistic shoot range with a Gen 2 with da torch for small varmints is 150-200yards. The D-760 Gen 2 I has bit too much light loss in a 6x package. Hope this helps.

Which tube is being used in the 740 gen 2 milspecs? is it an 18mm ANVIS style tube or is it an older PVS 5 style tube?

I do offer a Gen 2+ D-740, just not listed. (D-740 Gen SHP is shown on the ad.) The Gen 2+ is with a PVS 5 type tube.  The D-300 Gen 2 pics are close to what you will see with the 740 Gen2. A good IR illuminator is a must for longer range. Most everyone here tells folks to save if they can for a Gen 3 tube, you will NOT be dissapointed if you did.  Hope this helps.

By the way Sentry, WELCOME!! I just saw this was your FIRST visit to ARFCOM.  Kinda cool you came here first on this HUGE forum we have here!

The main reason I went with the 740 over the 760 was realisicly how far are your night shots going to be?  Another thing to think about is your field of view between the 740 and 760.  Like a day scope sometimes the wider field of view is worth more than the higher magnification.  Vic WILL set you right.
