Am I correct in thinking that a Nightvision viewer cannot be used in rear of a magnified optic. I know you can't stick a 5" viewer behind rear of a scope w/ a 2" eye releife and expect to see anything in focus, or can you if you adjust it. What if your are using a long eye relief scope. I guess the problem is that regardless of eye releif, you don't look through the NV, you look at it its display, so you couldn't look through it and focus your eye on the scope's image. Tell me if I am right or wrong. Is the only way to have magnified NV to have a dedicated NV scope or to have a non magnified NV viewer w/ a proprietary manification accesory? |
| You can do it. how well it really works is pretty subjective. I think vic has used the aimpoint magnifier with an eotech and a pvs-14 behind that with some success. And I've seen coupling kits to hook up a pvs-14 unit to the rear of a scope but I've never used em. |

The quaility of the scope you are going to put in front of your NV device needs to be very good indeed. I have a set of 8X32 Ziess Jena binos that are "prolly" the best pair of binos I have ever looked through and they will work but the light loss is good bit. however the image quality is quite good. Are you thinking spotting scope or are you thinking rifle scope? IPSC_GUY SIERRA II ALPHA |

I was thinking of putting it behind an EO tech w/ magnifier or an Elcan Dr. When you do this, do you put the front "lense" of the NV viewer at the eye releife distance, or do you put the NV viewer so that you eye actually is positoined at the same relief as if the NV wasn't there? Does having a scope w/ an illumited reticle help? |
