I saw a thread a month or so ago here that I can't find now showing a Pro-Tec skateboard helmet (like the SEALs and other HSLD types sometimes use) modded to accept a PVS 14, and I think that's my ideal setup for my "mixed NV uses"(some nightime plinking, some hiking/camping, some bird watching--nothing uber-tactical).

The Pro-Tec is light, inexpensive, and can be multi-use--I actually need a new mountain bike helmet anyway. Anyone know where that link went, or have another similar setup they could share? Thanks in advance.

Here's another good one:

I have a similar set-up, and went so far as to add a weight bag in the rear of the helmet - a suggestion by a friend of mine that trains helicopter pilots on NVG's. Works great, and wears more comfortably and can be taken on and off easier than the standard head mount.

Hope this helps,
Clint

Thanks a lot guys, very helpful.

My next question is where to get one of the PVS 14 mounting kits like Vic has pictured in his thread, since that seems like a much easier install than the setup that 11B30B4 is running.

Any leads? Thanks again!

Surplus military helmet mounts are very reasonable on ebay. Just try searching for "PVS 14" or "night vision helmet mount", anything along those lines. I paid around $50 for mine IIRC. Definitely used but works fine.
