This is my first time building a SBR.

I am working on my ATF Form 1 and I have a question about box 4d. Since the 80% is not a firearm yet, what model can I put in the box? Would AR 15 be okay?

You can define your own model if you want.
You will want to include a letter describing what you are doing.  You are creating a SBR from a non-firearm.
I've done it before, but only through e-file, and half the time I got a call from the examiner to be sure that I wasn't using an existing firearm receiver.

You can put whatever model name you want, if you're making your own AR lower. Just remember you have to engrave it on the lower so take that into consideration.

Same goes for trust names, I get a kick out of seeing "THE JOHN JACOB JINGLEHEIMER SMITH REVOCABLE LIVING TRUST" ON THE SIDE OF A LOWER

In theory, you should also be able to put N/A if you don't want to designate a model, and avoid engraving that bit of info. That's what I've done for all my Form 1 suppressors, which are similar to 80% lower SBRs.

Thanks for all the info. I still have a lot more to learn before I submit my forms. I need to get a trust set up forst.
