Purchased a can through SS and form 4 went pending on 6/16. The possible problem is that I just found out that the "powered by" SOT is a home based SOT that is putting up his house for sale AND he's active military.
I called him on this past Friday to check to see if SS swapped out the piston to a different thread pitch. He told me to swing by and I took a shit in my shorts when I saw a house with a "for sale" sign out front. I then noticed the DOD registration sticker on both of his vehicles. He told me he was selling his house and getting ready for deployment in late January. What should I do? If he sells his house, I'm sure all mail would be forwarded to his new address...but what about when he goes out to sea? Should I call NFA branch? I know he has a handful of cans in the safe for other people...I just dont want to have to wait an additional 6-8 months... |

As someone who has had an issue with SOT/Powered by SS before, a something I will suggest:
- After he tells you his plans for handling transfers while deployed, get contact info for the other person. I had a Powered by SS deal, where dealer's business license (not FFL/SOT) got pulled, so he closed his store, and contacted transfer customers as stamps came back... well USPS delivered stamps to me, the way the Form 4 was folded in their new envelopes with windows, and I had no way of getting a hold of SOT. SS said "We will take care of you, you won't be without a can." In the end, I got a hold of dealer and got my stuff. So if for example, your SOT says "my wife will handle it shes a business partner on my FFL/SOT" get her info, in case you need to contact. Life gets in the way of even the best-laid plans, and being able to get in touch with the other end of the NFA transfer is the bulk of the work. |

Good news on my possible predicament. It's not an issue. He got his orders already and is moving to the other side of the river. No reason for him to move as of yet.
He did mention to possibly let his SOT expire this summer. Since I expect my can to clear way before that, I'm in the clear. |
