What are the rules for interstate transport of an SBR?

For example, I live in SC and have family I visit in TN and PA.  I pass through GA on the way to TN, and NC, VA, MD, & WV on my way to PA.  In addition to passing through, any considerations for an overnight stop en route?

I would check each states laws on SBR's as I know they can vary from state to state. Some allow SBR's some don't. I would make sure to take the tax stamp of copy of it as an FYI if needed.

well, as long as you're passing through without stopping if any of  those states that don't allow it.  and obeying traffic laws, you won't have a issue.

but,  if you are concern about transporting your SBR by car, then the other alternative is  just ship it (UPS, FEDEX etc...)  it to the address you will be at.  put your name on the label with  a C/O under that. or just  forgo bringing it,  all together.

AR pistols suck. I originally built two pistol-configured lowers, but I don't know when they last saw the light of day.

Just file the forms. It takes me less than 5 minutes each fall to do them for the next year. I already have forms approved for all of 2017, for 11 firearms, and for 10 different states.

You technically only need them for destination states, which would include overnight stays. I file them for all the states, since I'm sending forms in anyway...why not?

Definitely check for legality. From your list, MD may be the only issue, and hopefully that's just a pass-through state.  It should only apply for final destinations or extended stops. The Safe Passage provision of FOPA handles the pass-through states, includes stops for fuel and food.

true, but then Md. has a law against those kinds of "pistols" as well as "AW" (funny but SBRs,  are legal there, go figure) and  magazines that holds more then 10 rounds, but going through there without stopping  you should be OK
