Last night I finished submitting a form 1 (not my first) and go the usual e-mail saying I had bee charged and another e-mail saying my status had changed...
It read This is to advise you that the status of your eForms submission with the subject Permit/Control number has changed to PENDING RESEARCH I don't remember what the the lones said but that phrase "pending research" seems odd to me. Is it normal? |

You must've either input an unknown manufacturer, or had to check the box to enter your own info for the firearm (usually model and/or caliber).
You should've seen a yellow triangle on the screen, and then at the last section a big yellow bar across the screen. Doesn't mean anything is necessarily wrong, just means it couldn't automatically go Submitted/In Process. It usually takes anywhere from a day or two all the way to 3-4 weeks to clear PR status. When it happens, you'll get another email notifying you. At that time, this application will receive a permit number and an actual submitted date. If you haven't read it before, this guide spells it all out near the bottom and includes screen shots to show you the yellow bar and the emails. |

Thanks, I suppose I missed something and slowed myself down. I did go through the guide the first couple of times, should have done it again. Anyway I can go back and correct it or am I just stuck waiting? |

My Benelli M2 SBS went PR as it's a 20 gauge, and there were no existing 20 ga in the listbox.
PR doesn't mean anything is WRONG, it just means you entered some information that the system has never seen. They have to get a human to check and make sure (in my case) that yes, Benelli does indeed make the M2 in 20 ga. What's the F1 for? |

Quoted: Question for you smart guys, if start a form, is there a way to save and continue later? Also, how long can you sit on a form1 before you do the actual "making" of the firearm? |

Yes, you can save an eForm and finish it later. I have been sitting on an approved suppressor Form 1 for over a year now. Quoted:

I don't think there's any statutory limit on delay in making time. Think about it like this:
If you don't make it it's Title I and paperwork doesn't apply. If you do make it in 10 years, well, then you've still got the stamp. Me? I'm too impatient to not make one within a few weeks. |
