i called yesterday to status a few forms I have in the pipeline. I was informed that one of my form4's was approved 2/9/16 and two others were still in process. one of my form 4's was in problem status and a correction letter had been mailed out. the fellow at BATFE told me that was on 2/12/16, which was a Friday, and he said it probably didn't actually get into the mail system until the following Monday, 2/15/16. neither myself or my SOT dealer has received the correction letter yet. today is 2/23/16. my question is, how long does it generally take for a correction letter to arrive in the mail? i was going to wait until the end of this week and if it hasn't arrived by Friday, i was going to call back and see about getting a new one sent out. any advice is appreciated. this is the first time i have ever had one that needed a correction (dealer put wrong caliber on the form). |

Pester the dealer, they probably have it in their "In" pile somewhere. No matter how attentive and what "good guys" they are, truth of the matter is that the dealer already has your money, and the ATF/government takes months and months to turn forms around, and from their perspective, what's a few more days?
If you get a bit insistent/pushy, they'll give you lots of reasurances, and then a call no more than one day later: "Hey! Guess what JUST showed up in the mail?" 
Bulk rate meter-mail from Martinsburg WV should only take a week anywhere in the U.S. Good news is, once the correction is made and mailed, your stamp is coming in a week or so.
