I'm sure this has been covered before, however I don't want to get in a jam. Can you Form 1 an SBR in 5.56 and swap out for a 300 BLK after? The intention being to use the lower for both. Also how would you go about the engraving for such? |

Quoted: You can specify other calibers on the Form 1 and the only info that gets engraved is your trust info. |

Ok, the lower does not have a caliber marked on it and so I will have to engrave whatever caliber I put on the Form 1, correct. I just curious if I want to later put a 300 upper on it, is that good to go? I intend on using both uppers. Quoted:

Also, if you put a 16"+ barreled upper on it, it loses its NFA status while so configured, and you can transport it interstate without filing a 5320.20. It keeps its NFA status whenever you restore it to SBR configuration (unless you notify NFA Branch in writing that it has been permanently restored to Title 1 configuration). |

| Just list the primary caliber and barrel length you intend to use. So long as you can return to the characteristics listed on your F1, you can change anything you'd like. If it's a change which would permanently alter the firearm away from the listed length or caliber, then you'll need to notify the ATF after the change. |

It's simply recommended, because there's no statute or regulation to require it. |
