So I emailed Ted Clutter really nicely about a paper F4 that was mailed in July and the check was just caused last week.  I pretty much just asked if he could let me know what was going on because it took four months for my check to cash and that was abnormal. His response is below and I have no idea what it means...

"

What does this mean?

I can't tell if this guy is telling me to piss off or is just way smarter than me and is actually being nice, but uses vocab that is beyond my grasp.

Reply with a "WTF".

Seriously, reply with a "I don't understand your response and please get back to me,please and thank you "

The guy is actually really cool. He'll understand.

Sounds to me like he is going to look into it and didn't have an answer for you right away.....?

Probably got misplaced and there may not really be an answer. It sucks, but likely there is nothing that will be done about it.

Yeah that's weird if the check just got cashed last week. But for what it's worth my paper Form 4 from April just was only approved oct 31st and took until nov 20th before it was mailed to my dealer, they are very slow there. I'm waiting on form 4 submitted in July and August, figure i would get them back in like Jan and Feb, but i checked with my dealer and both of those checks have been cashed.

FWIW... I've had forms go pending before the check cashed.

Hello Mr. Clutter,

I am emailing you about a paper form 4 that was submitted in early July.  I was unable to get any updates from the ATF on this for several months.  The check was just recently cashed last week and Mary advised me over the phone that it will be another 4 to 6 weeks before she can even see it in your system.  While I know paper submissions take several months, I believe that 4 months is a long time to wait for the check to be cashed, and am concerned that it may have been lost for a significant period of time.  Some peers advised me that you might be able to help me get an update on the status of this transfer.  Alot of them are showing approvals after 4 months while mine is still not even in the system.

The serial number is DD######C and the dealer's name is ... in ..., Florida.

I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide.

Ted Clutter is a cool dude. Very helpful. Sometimes, though, his replies are all jumbled up, a friggen mess. I take that response as a " I'll look into it for you, and get back to you when I know something.".

Honestly I think he is short on the fluency of English. If he doesn't get back to you in a few days. Then email him back, and ask again very nicely.

So he replied again and said he would help, but that he can't do anything until it goes PENDING in their system.  By that time it will have been 5 monhts.  Maybe if I email him again in a month when he can find it, then he will move it up.  might be wishful thinking though
