SBR -- Check.  Got it.

But now I'm moving.  We're PCSing to NC, and I am now in the market for at least 2 suppressors.  Just for added info, I am NOT the mil member anymore (retired), my wife is.  But I am the accompanying dependent on the orders.

I will be using my trust to acquire these items.  Am I able to purchase and submit my forms with my OH DL while in NC?  After all, it is the trust entity that the suppressors are being registered to.

This whole time I have been planning and seeking out a Class 3 dealer for when I get there, but this just crossed my mind so now I want to get clarification.  The suppressor may very well be ordered online and sent to the dealer:  No ID used there.  Once at the dealer, I send my forms to the ATF for approval:  No ID used there.

Am I good to go, or do I need to get a NC drivers license for something that I'm not thinking of?

As you will be a bona-fide NC resident while you are there, you will be able to pick things up for the trust, though you'll need supporting documentation in lieu of an NC driver's license to prove you are an NC resident.  If you were to get an NC driver's license, though, that would be fine, too.

You're confusing me a little bit by the part in red.

An NC DL will be necessary, but I will ALSO need ADDITIONAL proof of being a resident?  Or do you mean that I can use other documentation instead of the NC DL?  What would that include?  Usually when stationed in a state different from your home of record, mil members use their PCS orders to purchase a firearm with their mil ID, rather than having to obtain a new DL for the state they're stationed in.  I haven't had to worry about this now that I'm retired since we have been actually stationed in my home state for the last 3.5 years.  But my name is on the orders, so I would imagine it is the same.

I would like to avoid getting a NC DL if possible.  Since it's a military move, I'm not required to get a new DL for NC.  I just don't want to have to reregister my vehicles with NC because I now hold a DL with the state.

NC DL will be all you need.

However, should you choose to keep your OH DL, there are still ways to prove your legal residence in NC, as a military spouse.

Once you move and are on her orders you are then a resident of both states.
I currently hold a FL DL, and my ffl guy has a copy of my orders, it is treated as I am a resident in NM. Get to enjoy the resident hunting tag application here as a resident. And when I visit Fl, get to enjoy the resident prices there as well.
Now the whole trust thing being in two states might get tricky. You might have to follow NC laws and some how rewrite your trust in accordance with the state. I think (i am not a lawyer) you could just update your trusts address and continue to purchase NFA goodies as long as its cool with NC.
You would just have things "made" in different states. Example would be differnt cities engraved on your NFA stuff.
Again, I am no lawyer, but will one day be in your predicament.
What ever you figure out I would definetly like to know how it works out for ya.
