Called to check on a form that is 10 months from recieved date and Da..da...da..... No longer using recieved date.  Now it's back to the origional pending date according to Mary.  So some of the forms from April-June that were recieved and didnt go pending for 2 months after recieved date, back to square one. These assholes don't know which way is up.

Earlier this year March- June  most of the time your check was cashed but status did not go pending for 8 to as much as 12 weeks later and then quoting approval 9 months from that pending date. Fast forward post shutdown and they did away with pending dates and quoted 9 months approval from check cash date or recieved date they called it.  The people who had 2-3 month chrck cash to pending delays in theory gained some time on the clock. Now that is just purgatory time and counts zero towards your approval wait. I submitted 4 form 4's in March all on different dates none went pending until June. Those nearly 3 months were just a waste of time to get to the clock start point.

Is there an ATF website to check pending status?

I have my first form pending.  I know it will be a while.

Ok thats what I thought. I am pretty sure I went pending mid july, so thats the date I have been going off of for my wait. I figure....February? ? But who knows at this point.

That isn't right I don't think. I'm pretty sure they go in a pile from the date that are received and checks cashed. They simply reach for the next in the pile. I'm sure some get mixed up during the stages but as far as some jumping ahead of forms sent in may thru june I doubt it.

The only ones that I've seen skip anybody lately, other than police, military, etc are the form 1 testing that was done on the e forms.

I could be wrong and as the other guy said, the only constant is change.

Welcome to NFA.

At 6 month mark(which hasn't approached for either or last 2 stamps pending, I'll call and continue calling every 30 days after only to ensure I'm not in "problem status".

For most part I mail off paperwork and forget it.

I currently have a form 4 I mailed in Feb, and have a April pending date for it. It will be my first stamp.  When I orignaly called on it in July they quoted me a 12-15 month wait as they did everyone else at that time. Its part of the game gentleman, yea it gets old waiting but you knew there was a waiting time walking in to it. They only quote wait times based on what the current turn times have been and intake of work load. It's not a exact time frame, it's not like they say at exactly 6 months your form will be released for approval and have now changed it to 9 or 12.  Don't get so upset at the quoted times, they are only estimates and change constantly

You have to call for status. At least that's the case if you mailed yours in. I've never eFiled, so I don't know if you get email updates or anything similar.

Call (304) 616-4500. When they answer the phone tell them you would like to check the status of your form 1/form 4. They will ask for the serial number and then your name, then they will tell you your status.

So they are giving you pending dates now when you call?

Called today.

In the past, they told me pending April 10th, then "sent for approval" on Aug 15th and it would be 90 days from that.

Then up to today it was just "Received Feb 26th, its taking 9 months"

Today it is now "You went to approval on April 10th, should have it January"

So in other words we're all looking at 9 months to a year

Or however long they decide to make us wait

If the ATF was smart, they'd start a "White Glove Service", you pay $1000 for the stamp and go to the front of the line.

That would be so wrong but I would pay the $1000 for instant approval.

I got the same answer yesterday

Sh!ts pissing me off!  With the 2nd pending date we had a "within 90 days " timeline and now January!  This is Bull!

I called about 3 weeks ago on a stamp for my socom556sb. I was told by a nice lady that pending dates weren't being released, and that there is about a 15 month wait from time of receipt.

I would pay $1000 for instant stamp service.

If you sort NFA Tracker by date approved, they're essentially on late Jan - early Feb received dates.  So take into account Thanksgiving, then maybe Christmas.... yea January.

It doesn't bother me at all.  They can call it 'fluffy bunny happy day', 'red nova special treatment', or 'pending'... it changes nothing.

Forms and money go in one end, and some time later, they come out the other end.  All the calls in the world don't speed it up, or have any bearing on anything.  You know they got it, because they cashed the check.

They should call all status 'sit and wait time', because that's what it is.

Called today. Was told to expect my Form 1 "in a bout 9 months from October 3rd". I suspect Oct. 3rd is the actual pending date since they told me before that August 15 was my "received date".

So therefore it's about a 11 month wait from received - > approved or a 9 month wait from pending -> approved.

Called today and was greeted by a very friendly voice named Vicki. Expected 9 months from pending date of May 28. I filed the form in early March, on a trust.

Oh well, February it is.

Oh yeah...

Filed an eForm 1 on 11/16 on a trust. Sent an email and got a response from Gary Schaible, that was form and payment was accepted and I went pending. Saved me two months over paper filing.
