The ATF recived my papers end of Feb 2013. It is 7 months now and no word from them. Should they have approved it within 7 months?

I had a Form 4 sent in January and it wasn't approved until the end of August.

Sending in another one today

They "should" have it approved in weeks, if not days.

Sadly, 7 months or more is now the norm and it is inching up toward a full year... especially with the flood of new applications they have received following the panic(s) at the first of the year, the new online system being implemented, and the announcements re: planned rules changes.

The real question is when did it go pending. It seems to take anywhere from 6 - 8 weeks from the time the check is cashed to pending and then 6 months from that date. Is it right? NO but it is what it is. I'm 9 months on a form 4. I am dealing with my LGS right now to get an issue resolved and then I should finally get my stamp. Of course with the shutdown nothing will move forward and so we wait.

Mine took right at 8 months from when I sent it on Jan. 26 to when it was approved on 9/27. I just hope they got it in the mail before the shutdown.

Nope. Taking nine months, and add whatever time they are all out of a job to it.
