Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I cant find an answer to this anywhere. If I have an 03 C&R FFL do I need to put that information in box 5 ? My dealer that is ordering my silencer says yes, my friend who has done many NFA transfers says no. Anyone have any idea? Thank you.

There's a class 3 section under the armory.
Are you buying the suppressor as an individual? If so, then do not put the C&R FFL on the application (unless you have some weird state/local law that requires you to have a C&R for NFA firearms). If you have a business, LLC, etc that has a C&R, and you want the LLC to own the NFA item, then you would put it on the application. As an individual, there's no need to put anything in box 5. |

I put my C&R FFL number on all three of the stamps I had approved last year as an individual (other ones were on a trust). I forgot to list the number on the form 4 MG that was just approved yesterday. All were approved without an issue, C&R FFL number or not. They also all took about the same amount of time. It doesn't seem to make a difference one way or another.

| The Type 03 FFL info would be appropriately included if the transfer pertained to a C&R firearm, which means an SOT would not be necessary even interstate. Your being a Type 03 is completely irrelevant the the application otherwise. Your including your Type 03 info in there for a non-C&R transaction will only confuse the examiner, not worth it. It could easily delay your application needlessly. It does not help the process. |
