I'm considering this as my next AR build.  A shorty Noveske with integrated barrel.  I'm thinking like a 10.5 or 11.5 barrel.  Does anybody currently make an upper or build them with pinned suppressors so I can get away with one stamp?  I guess if I can't do that I'll just have a suppressor for other AR platforms.

How is the reliability and function of the shorter barrels (gas systems) with a suppressor?
Thoughts, things to consider, etc???

You could pin a supressor, but you'd be a lot better off just getting two tax stamps.  Buy the time you buy a can and have someone pin it to a barrel you aren't going to save a ton on the stamp, and not being able to take it off would be a huge pain, especially if it ever needed to be sent in for work.

It's worth doing it right with two stamps so you can remove the can.

I'll second this. I ended up with a baffle strike. Also, I like being able to put the can on my other rifles.

Something like this?

I built one using my SBR as a base and using a detachable can. The hardest part was getting a handguard that allowed the can to fit inside. I ended up using a YHM Diamond that I still had to dremel some as rails are oval and not round once you go smaller in diameter.
Worked ok but I was still not 100% happy so sold off the rail a few years ago. I am thinking of doing the same for a 9mm someday. Check out Coastal Gun - Clyde has a picture of a 9mm and the new X with a rail.

While it can be done and there are some suppressors out there that are designed to be done like that with an external threaded portion on the chamber end (can't think of who makes them ATM), it's complicated.

As others stated, you have to worry about if it needs to be worked on and/or suppressor injuries .

Now where it gets complicated for me is, the number of forearms, if barrel/suppressor is being put under it, gets cut down to those with available ID to fit OD of suppressor. After that is chosen, the barrel nut has to be on the barrel before pinning the suppressor, which in turn makes the "upgrading" of forearms in the future. That is, unless the combo is sent off to be depinned, removed, old barrel nut removed, new one added, suppressor cleaned up and repinned to barrel, weld and cleanup. That also includes the gas block.

If the combo will not be under a forearm, the number or possibilities are higher, but the process is pretty much the same.

With all that being said, I'm not saying don't do it or to do it (as I've thought about it too) I'm just giving you food for thought.
